About

"The Design Tools Lab (DTL) is a research group dedicated to supporting people realizing their creative potential. We develop design software, toolkits, and learning experiences that enable people to build and share projects representing their ideas, identities, and values. We are especially interested in creative computing design tools that support beginners developing computational fluency, with prior work centered on machine learning, visual arts, electronics, and documentation."

My involvement falls under the lab's AI-Assisted Creative Coding Project which currently focuses on developing a computational edutool called Flowcode.

Flowcode

Flowcode is an AI-assisted creative coding environment that helps beginners understand and extend existing code through visual code maps and learning-focused AI support. Through iterative design and user studies, we investigate how visualization and intentional friction can promote deeper learning in creative coding.
